Aside: R-Pi again, with Guitar Hero III

[ xboxdrv | deb ] [ apt-offline deb | catch-22 ]

[ compiling from source ] [ removing files ]

Goal: get Guitar Hero III controller to talk with R-Pi

We have drivers that we can use. But I don’t have internet on the R-Pi (using ethernet to SSH in, don’t have wifi dongle, internet sharing prohibited). So, I can compile this from the source!

tar -xzvf file.tar.gz

tar -xjvf file.tar.bz2

rm -f -r {file-name}

-f: Forcefully remove file

-r: Remove the contents of directories recursively

And that leads us to some MORE libraries that we’d need:

So, one workaround is download a ready to apt-get .deb package! I guessed that an [ armhf ] binary would run on R-Pi. Nope.

Next, I can either try downloading the other packages until I find one that works. Else, I could go with apt-offline:

Then, we [ install ] the package:

sudo dpkg -i DEB_PACKAGE

And as hopes were getting high again…

Time to eat.
